In response to the ongoing water quality issues throughout the district, Northwest Harris County MUD 5 has decided to temporarily transition the water disinfection method from chloramines back to free chlorine. This should alleviate the aesthetic water quality issues customers have been experiencing such as taste, odor, and feel while allowing our operations and engineering team to analyze what we’ve been seeing in the system and make adjustments to our treatment process. We expect this temporary transition to last for 2-4 weeks. We will send out a follow up alert before making any additional changes to water treatment.

Please continue to report, with detail, any water quality problems you are experiencing to our water operations group at 281-290-6500 or visit www.mdswater.com.
